Summers in Marrakech are hot and dry, with temperatures reaching 38°C (100°F). Sun is the rule year-round, with occasional rain falling from October through March. Marrakech’s long temperate winters from November to April have pleasant average temperatures of 22°C (71°F).

What to pack

Modesty in dress is expected of visitors in Morocco. Light clothing is appropriate with a sweater or jacket in the evenings. Sports shoes are suitable for light touring, and hiking boots are recommended for treks.

Language & Currency

Arabic is the official language of Morocco, and French is widely spoken throughout the country. English is also spoken in larger centres.The Moroccan currency is the dirham. Hotels, banks and the larger airports will change major currencies, though not always traveller’s cheques.

Marrakech is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), and there is no Daylight Saving Time. Electricity is 220 volts and wall outlets take the standard, two-pin European plug; converters and plug adaptors are available.

Health

Medical services are available round the clock at Amanjena. Drinking boiled or bottled water is often an adequate precaution against water-borne illnesses.

 

Visas

Please check with your nearest Moroccan embassy or consulate prior to travel. Visitors from most countries do not require visas, but a passport valid for at least six months is necessary. Visitors are usually granted a 90-day stamp on entry.
